Job Description

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) is one of the most technically advanced designers and manufacturers of lightweight composite aerospace structures, subassemblies and components. Position is triggered by a new operating structure for AEC, this position is crucial enabling and supporting business growth objectives. Specifically, this position is focused on enhancing program execution through the creation and implementation of Program Management processes, procedures and tools across AEC. This position is responsible for establishing benchmarks and metrics associated with program execution and driving continuous improvement to these benchmarks. The position will also oversee the quality of program reviews and ensure effective cross-functional collaboration to align program execution with business strategies. This position requires frequent and high level communications across the spectrum of AEC organizations. The communications will range from day to day questions/issues with sites and/or programs to the strategic leadership communications that reach across the enterprise. The position requires typical program functionality knowledge including program budget and targets, new business and the strategic value and communication of same, and general industry knowledge to understand strategic objectives and foresee any risks associated.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:




  • Establish PM process, procedures, guidance for all AEC programs.
  • Ensure consistent application of internal Program Management processes and tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement in AEC-wide program management practices, focusing on program execution, financial management, and risk management.
  • Evaluates Program Management processes with programs, functions and senior leadership seeking to continually optimize across the AEC enterprise.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to improve program execution and alignment with business strategies.
  • Provide guidance as needed on execution strategies for various proposal types.

Experience/Education/Skills

Position Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):



  • Demonstrated knowledge of program management principles, emphasis on procedures, process and continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to communicate big picture aspects and details.
  • Experience in complex project/program management across the full program lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Department of Defense/U.S. Government contracts.
  • Financial knowledge to fully understand what drives program execution and what we need to put in place internally to meet business needs. This includes:

    • Contractual and non-contractual issues covering the incidence of cost
    • Revenue generation and Recognition
    • Capital requirements
    • Earned Value Management and the creation of program baselines.


  • Knowledgeable in Risk Management, Change Management, Resource Management, Supplier Integration and Program Startup best practices


Additional Position Requirements (education, certifications, experience, physical)




  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or relevant field. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience with:

    • Program management experience, including new product introduction experience, operational leadership experience in the aerospace industry.
    • Experience with the DoD and National Security acquisition processes including supporting processes such as requirements development and budgeting.
    • Demonstrated communications experience with customers including reducing complex issues to straightforward approaches while facilitating multiple levels and functions towards program objectives - internally and externally.
    • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems- experience with SAP and SAP Project Systems module is a plus.


  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
