Primary Purpose

Performs the analysis and review of material transactions relating to material accounting to ensure that inventory and related expenses are recorded timely and accurately in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Principal Duties



  • Prepares monthly inventory analysis, analysis of goods receipt and invoice received, diesel fuel reporting and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Observes the annual inventory count and monitors results to ensure final counts are properly entered and approved.
  • Develops a complete understanding of the workflow surrounding the material accounting cycle and provides suggestions for process improvements.
  • Generates reporting for client departments and conducts data analysis in response to management inquiries.
  • Respond to vendor and internal partner inquires related to purchase order discrepancies.
  • Prepares fuel reports for the Surface Transportation Board (STB).
  • Collaborates with IT to resolve system issues and performs user acceptance testing for system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Supports special projects and makes recommendations.



Qualifications & Skills

Education/Certifications:



  • Minimum Level: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred Major: Accounting or Finance
  • Preferred: CPA or CPA Track



Experience



  • Minimum Level: 1-2 years
  • Preferred Level: 3-5 years



Technical Skills:



  • MS Excel/Spreadsheets
  • MS Outlook
  • MS PowerPoint/Presentations
  • MS Word/Word Processing
