We are seeking a highly motivated and inquisitive individual to establish a data science and data engineering capability within the Z Machine Operations group (1670). This role is essential in harnessing data to drive innovative solutions that enhance our experimental capabilities and operational efficiency. As a member of our cross-functional team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and technology in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

In this position, you will work closely with the IT Infrastructure and Operations team, as well as other key stakeholders inside and outside of the group, to understand our data needs and design effective data infrastructure solutions. You will leverage advanced data analytics, including AI and machine learning, to explore and develop solutions that support Z operations. This role requires a strong foundation in data science, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for applying data-driven insights to real-world challenges. Additionally, this role requires self-direction and the ability to work in ambiguity.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Work as a member of a cross-functional team to develop comprehensive data governance and data management plans.

  • Utilize advanced data analytics techniques, including AI/ML, to explore solutions related to Z operations. Example areas might include:

  • Develop reusable processes, tools and pipelines for data processing (e.g. ETL, image pre-processing, metadata collection).

  • Develop and maintain documentation related to data processes, governance, and management.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
