As Cornell University's online learning unit, eCornell delivers online professional certificate courses to individuals and organizations around the world. Courses are personally developed by Cornell faculty with expertise in a wide range of topics, including data analytics, management, marketing, human resources, leadership, and STEM. The Opportunity

eCornell's Chief Marketing Officer leads marketing strategy and drives sustainable growth across Cornell's online and executive education programs. This senior leader will be responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing initiatives that elevate Cornell's position in professional education, strengthen enrollment pipelines, and reinforce our brand as a leader in digital and hybrid learning.

This role demands a strong grasp of both B2B and B2C marketing within a premium education context. The position also supports marketing efforts related to eCornell's social impact programs.

We're looking for someone who is both strategic and hands-on, someone who connects business goals with product direction and brand vision to create compelling, results-driven campaigns. As eCornell's Chief Marketing Officer, you will be responsible for:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies aligned with eCornell's mission and growth goals
  • Lead brand strategy and positioning in the competitive executive education market
  • Drive innovation across digital and traditional channels
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategy development and alignment
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across Cornell University
  • Ensure alignment with Cornell's institutional brand

Marketing Operations

  • Oversee digital marketing, content strategy, brand management, and analytics
  • Lead integrated campaigns across paid, owned, and earned media
  • Manage a $25M marketing budget and optimize ROI
  • Guide pricing and go-to-market strategies for premium programs
  • Create clear value propositions for individual and enterprise clients

Digital Marketing & Technology

  • Drive excellence across SEO, PPC, email, social, and content marketing
  • Oversee the marketing tech stack and data analytics infrastructure
  • Lead CRM and marketing automation strategies
  • Improve conversion rates and user experience
  • Implement advanced tracking and attribution for customer journeys

Corporate & Executive Education

  • Develop targeted campaigns for C-suite and executive audiences
  • Build thought leadership platforms in collaboration with faculty
  • Design marketing strategies for high-value offerings ($5K-$50K+)

Team Leadership

  • Build and mentor a high-performing, cross-functional team
  • Foster collaboration with Sales, Product, Technology, and Academic partners
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics
  • Manage agency and vendor relationships
  • Support a culture of accountability and innovation

What You'll Need to Apply for Consideration

  • This position is based in Ithaca, New York, however, the successful applicant may perform this role remotely anywhere within the United States. Employees who work remotely may receive multiple W-2 Forms depending on their work location.
