A Day In Your Life At MKS: The Director of Programs is accountable to oversee and direct the MKS IT Program Management Office (PMO). The Director of Programs is a key member of the Office of the CIO's (OCIO's) and is a member of the extended IT leadership team working closely with other members of the OCIO and Technology Leadership Team to scope, schedule and advance programs and projects that deliver on the organization's strategic goals.

Strategic Planning and Direction
- Mature and implement PMO strategies, processes and policies to support the organizations' strategic objectives.
- Allocate PMO resources effectively including people, budget and technology to support short and long term project execution needs
Team Leadership and Management
- Lead and mentor an high-performing team of program and project managers, providing guidance, mentoring and fostering a collaborative environment and develop internal talent.
- Serve as a hands-on manager of managers within the PMO organization.
- Take primary accountability for ensuing MKS IT has the right mix of employee and contractor PMO labor
- Align project managers to projects as needs arise balancing tradeoffs when multiple demands are present
Project and Program Oversight
- Establish standardized project management methodologies, tools, metrics, and reporting frameworks to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery.
- Mature or develop scalable processes for project financial management and resource capacity management.
- Establish processes to create and cadence to review integrated change roadmaps
- Ensure projects follow MKS practices for project planning, status reporting, issue and risk management and financial reporting.
- Drive meaningful and actionable dialogues focused on remediating risk and delivering value
- Through program managers, monitor project scope and manage any changes to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Oversee budget management for all projects, ensuring financial resources are used effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure IT resources are effectively allocated and utilized across projects.
- Collaborate with IT department to align technology solutions with project management needs.
- Establish performance metrics and reporting mechanisms to track project risks, progress and outcomes.
Steering and Governance
- Mature governance frameworks to ensure all projects align with the organization's strategic objectives.
- Ensure projects have a standard governance structure that includes but is not limited to a fully resourced project team and steering committee.
- In partnership with VP OCIO, drive preparation for and leadership of IT Portfolio Governance and IT Executive Steering committee dialogues to drive decisions on prioritization, risk management, financial management and oversight and direction for key projects.
- Oversee the business aspects of Information Technology to support project execution.

- Governance Framework - experience establishing portfolio level controls and escalation procedures and implementing them in a manner that is fit for purpose for the organization in with it needs to operate.
- Enterprise Prioritization - Ability to lead leading prioritization of initiatives across IT helping teams of stakeholders adjudicate trade offs where necessary.
- Performance Management - demonstrated ability to create dashboards for executive oversight and decision making
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in project management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role with proven success in managing enterprise-level initiatives with significant cross-functional complexity.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional teams.
Supervisory Scope The Director of Programs will lead a team of approximately 20 dedicated program and project management employees and contractors and must have experience managing in a matrixed environment. This is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Andover, MA. Candidate must be within commutable driving distance. Relocation benefits are not available for this position.
