Overview
Provide customer service relating to the Accounts function and maintain accurate account records. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Respond to customer inquiries, requiring the ability to reconstruct policy activity based on advanced knowledge of the receivables system and company operations. Responses maybe oral or written.
- Solve customer service problems and determine appropriate course of corrective action. Must utilize knowledge as to when exceptions to company policy should be considered and proposes exceptional solutions.
- Review and accept payment according to policy codes and enter non-cash journal transactions on either the mainframe or PC. Must possess ability to prepare and post all system transactions.
- Provide accounting reports as required and needed to the Service Center Director, Managers, Team Leaders and Team Members as well as corporate divisions.
- Train Service Center personnel and provide technical support to Service Center employees and management as needed and required.
- Utilize appropriate form letters as they pertain to corresponding transactions.
- Prepare and create certificates of insurance according to customer request within granted authority.
- Market and assist with customer sign up for online services such as Select Pay.
- Prepare legal notices of policy cancellation as requested by the underwriting department.
- Review Service Center policies, operations, and procedures. Proposes improvements. Reinstate cancelled policies within granted authority level.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Requirements
- Strong customer service skills and results oriented
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Education and Experience
- High School diploma preferred with 3 years combined experience in bookkeeping customer service.
- Experience preferred:
- 1 year data processing/data entry
- 1 year insurance rating
- 1 year office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- 2 years account service representative

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
Pay Range
USD $46,000.00 - USD $63,000.00 /Yr.
