Job Description

The Research Specialist will be responsible for performing cognitive behavioral assessments on adult and aged rodent models (rats and mice). This role also entails managing rat and mouse colonies and ensuring accurate documentation of animal genotyping. Previous knowledge and experience with safe rodent handling techniques and rodent behavioral experimentation is preferred. The Research Specialist will also be trained to perform tissue collection, cell isolation, cell culture and other essential experiments.

Duties include:
- Perform animal cognitive behavior experiments using Anymaze software with adult rats and mice.
- Perform animal injection, surgery and tissue collection.
- Perform vascular smooth muscle cell isolation and cell culture.
- Manage recording of animal colonies (mice and rat) and genotyping/phenotyping data.
- Perform other lab duties including cleaning, making buffer, performing other experiments as directed.

Shift

Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in biology or science
- Experience with and knowledge of animal cognitive behavior testing
- Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Good interpersonal skills and time management skills.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $17.05 - $24.04 per hour
Grade: GGS 007
