Description
As a Sample Receiver, you will perform safe sample handling procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations for environmental laboratories. You will also assist in documenting and performing tasks necessary to maintain the integrity of samples and support the analytical data. You will also:
- Maintainthe Incoming Program for scheduling samples into the laboratory.
- Workwith Project Management team to record incoming shipments and updates status as needed.
- Maintainthe labeling program for bottle orders.
- Work with logistics to supply chains and labels for projects.
- Workwith Project Management team to assure that sample receipts are sent to clients on a timely basis.
- Workwith Project Management to review incoming paperwork to ensure that projects are logged in accurately.
- Workwith Project Management to answer phones when needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to all clients on daily basis
- Work with Hazardous Waste Personnel to manage labeling, barcoding and waste tracking.
- Backup duties for sample custodial duties including, but not limited to: sample inventory upon receipt, sample storage, data entry, bar coding, sample labeling, sample relinquishing, and sample disposal.
- Continually aware of and meets holding time/commitments required by external and internal clients.
- Backup duties for Logistics Supervisor for bottle preservation and preparation of bottle orders in accordance with preservation requirements.
- Backup duties for Logistics Supervisor for scheduling of couriers.
- Accountable for accurate documentation in accordance with ESS Laboratory policy and SOPs.
- Assists chemists and other technicians as needed.
- Perform all responsibilities in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with ESS Laboratory safety policy. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment that is in compliance with the requirements of ESS Laboratory's Health & Safety program (and local laws and regulations).
- Meets all quality criteria as specified in QA manual. Performs all quality control procedures as described in QA/QC manual.
- Performs training duties and work scheduling as required.
- Works and communicates with personnel of own and other departments to develop a team approach to solve problems, improve efficiency, meet department and company goals, meet customer needs, and control costs.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned, including, but not limited to, clerical duties to support the team.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with laboratory QA/QC practices.
- Must be able to follow instruction and work under general supervision.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
- Possess an understanding of basic technical knowledge as pertains to assigned department.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Must have excellent customer service skills
- Familiarity with computers is preferred.
