In the role of Senior Engineering Geologist, we'll count on you to



  • Plan, implement, and manage geotechnical and geologic projects.
  • Coordinate permits, rights of access, and utility location.
  • Log boring and test trenches.
  • Perform field mapping.
  • Evaluate geologic site conditions and interpret soil, bedrock and groundwater data.
  • Guide staff engineers and geologist in performing material characterization, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses, foundation and retaining wall design.
  • Prepare reports, memos, and specifications.
  • Support project manager in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks.



Preferred Qualifications



  • M.S. in Engineering Geology strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of professional experience pertaining to engineering geology, field work (soil logging/field mapping), foundation design, settlement analysis, seismic analysis, and report writing.
  • Experience with transportation related projects, especially bridge foundation, retaining walls, storm damage, and pavement design.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences in both written and verbal formats.
  • California P.E. or C.E.G. license, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • An outgoing and positive attitude, and dependable work ethic to meet all assigned project deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadline
  • Sense of humor a plus.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years experience with a successful track record of marketing, project management, staff management and client satisfaction, business development skills, familiarity of local clients and markets
  • Advanced degree may offset years of experience
  • Prior experience with field work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Leadership skills and ability to manage in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • May require ability to travel
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
