Description & Requirements

The research and development (R&D) tax credit is an incentive for companies to invest resources in the development of new and improved products, processes, and software.Forvis Mazars' R&D tax credit consultants work with companies in a multitude of industries to understand their R&D efforts and assist them with capturing these valuable tax savings.

How you will contribute:

  • Providing research and development tax consulting services to a variety of clients including Fortune 500, private middle-market companies, owner-managed businesses, and start-ups
  • Working as a multi-disciplinary team helping provide subject matter knowledge and experience
  • Coordinating with the Manager, Senior Manager, or Partner on all phases of an R&D credit engagement including initial scoping, engagement letter, information requests, timely and proactive client communications, staffing requirements, project execution, and report and deliverable preparation
  • Delegating work to and reviewing work performed by staff in accordance with their experience and capabilities
  • Researching R&D credit statutes, regulations, and case law
  • Gathering client documentation and assisting in the analysis of client data (both financial and technical)
  • Performing research credit calculations
  • Creating detailed reports to substantiate tax benefits
  • Developing and reviewing descriptions of qualified project activities to support R&D credit positions
  • Actively coaching and training staff on all facets of engagement execution
  • Performing site visits to assist with client interviews
  • Cndidates should be growth-motivated and supportive of the team's growth goals and expectations

  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture
  • Ability to meet stringent client deadlines
  • Availability to travel 10% to 15% within the U.S.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field or JD
  • 3.5+ years or more of professional experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA (Licensed or Candidate), EA, JD or LLM
  • Research credit experience preferred
