This Activity therapist Manager role is responsible for coordinating, developing, and maintaining a quality activity program They work closely with other healthcare professionals to assess patient needs, develop individualized activity plans, and monitor progress. The role involves developing treatment plans, observing patient participation, and modifying treatment programs as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, manage, coordinate and oversee the planning and executing of social, recreational and educational life enrichment programs for the residents in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility policy and procedure, Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information to assure personnel and resident rights are respected.
  • Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that reflect current standards of practice and programs for the life enrichment department. Focusing on Person Centered Care for patients served.
  • Responsible to develop and maintain department including activity equipment and supplies-within operating and capital budget. Prepares department budget including labor; equipment and supplies
  • Oversight of assessments, care plans and progress notes related to life enrichment. Ensuring that the care and services provided are person-centered, and honor and support each resident's preferences, choices, values and beliefs.
  • Assumes and demonstrates accountability and leadership to ensure that the department implements an ongoing patient centered life enrichment program that incorporates the patient's interests, hobbies and cultural preferences which is integral to maintaining and/or improving a patient's physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being and independence. To create opportunities for each patient to have a meaningful life by supporting his/her domains of wellness (security, autonomy, growth, connectedness, identity, joy and meaning). Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure services are communicated.
  • Oversee the planning and development of life enrichment calendars that meet the requirements of Duty #5 and are offered at times that provide for maximum involvement by patients to include evenings and weekends.
  • Determine staffing needs for the life enrichment department and serves as back up to support meeting the life enrichment needs of the patients. Provides direction and oversight for volunteer program and gift shop.
  • Assumes and demonstrates accountability and leadership in the performance of directing their departments to ensure quality of patient care and promotion of team collaboration.
  • Directs the resident council meetings. Attends meetings as required including QAPI; Leadership; and Resident/Family meetings.
  • Develop and implement an effective life enrichment orientation program as well as on-going in-service training for staff that provides information necessary to maintain quality of services.
  • Attend education programs to maintain knowledge of current standards of practice. Communicate information to life enrichment staff as needed.
  • Supports and is actively engaged in practicing the mission, vision, and values of the organization to promote patient satisfaction. Actively participates in supporting cascading goals, including service excellence, financial and idea boards.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or related field required.
  • LICSW, LCSW, LMHC preferred
  • Minimum 6 months of prior experience as a group leader in psychiatric hospital, partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient treatment program preferred.
  • Two-years of experience managing an activity program
