Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Assistant Project Manager assists with providing the planning, coordination, and direction for project management activities to ensure they meet owner needs, specifications, cost, and schedule, from initial project identification through construction closeout, including providing a broad spectrum of technical and administrative duties primarily associated with drawings management, document management and construction management support. May supervise office/field administrative staff or project/field engineers and other assigned staff.
Assists the Project Manager in developing project specific procedures, documentation and related A/E systems for the project
- Knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with construction/project requirements
- Obtains, maintains, and manages data, information, communications, and approvals required by project and company requirements between owner, architects, engineers, and other project-related entities
- Assists in the management of project controls, cost, and performance activities and procedures, project logistics, organization, systems and project closeout
- Supports project meetings to include documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information and statuses
- May assist in coordinating and monitoring activities of construction management staff, contractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
- Assist the project management team in the receipt, distribution and maintenance of drawings. Perform construction contract correspondence, document and plan control function, input data into required project information system, and prepare management information status report, as required
- Update and maintain sets of drawings, specifications and logs. Read and post the high volume of RFIs and Design Notices into the drawings
- Maintain project files and document / drawing management systems. Communicate with the designer and contractor to make the posted drawings more efficient and timely
- Distribute documents and drawings; maintain document and drawing logs
- Assist in the Request for Information (RFI) process by helping the team with RFI tracking and follow-up. Maintain RFI logs in the project information system
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture is required (Extensive relevant construction management experience in place of education may be considered)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, with a strong emphasis on aviation-related projects, including airport terminals, runways, taxiways, or airside/landside infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage complex aviation construction programs, with the skill to communicate technical progress and challenges to both engineering teams and airport or agency leadership.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in high-security, fast-paced airport environments, with a proactive, results-oriented approach.
- Capacity to take initiative and assume greater responsibilities in support of project and team goals.
- Strong track record of delivering accurate, dependable, and complete work on aviation or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Evidence of professional growth and consistent performance, including increased responsibilities and successful delivery of aviation-related scopes.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders such as airport authorities, and regulatory agencies.
- Broad experience in the design, construction management, and administration of major airport facilities, including coordination with FAA, TSA, and other regulatory bodies.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, and airport operations personnel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with aviation project management tools such as Prolog, Primavera P6, and airport-specific systems.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods such as Design/Build (DB), CM-at-Risk, or Progressive Design-Build is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) are highly desirable.
- Possession of a California Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$126,000.00 .
