Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Telecommunications Analyst II for the Office of Information Technology. Reporting to the Reporting to
NOC Manager, Telecommunications Division, Network Operations & Architecture (
TDNOA). This is a technical position that performs daily activities within the Rutgers University
NOC. Some responsibilities include infrastructure monitoring, incident & problem management, network equipment and infrastructure analysis and repair, network equipment configuration and service provisioning, support ticket fulfillment,
NOC Call center and support services, and service outage communication. Updates procedures, documentation, reports, and
NOC tools and resources. Supports University IT.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and Rutgers regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
- Network infrastructure monitoring, problem management, network equipment and infrastructure analysis, repair, configuration and service provisioning.
- Supports ticket fulfillment, incident handling, NOC Call Center technical and support services.
- Updates and maintenances of procedures, documentation, reports and NOC tools and resources.
- Changes management and incident communications.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in Rutgers' Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field and two (2) years of experience in telecommunications and computing. Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
|
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Must be able to demonstrate practical telecommunications/networking skills, possess knowledge of the principles and practices of telecommunications/network system planning and have working knowledge of routine local data networking technologies.
- Must be able to handle multiple, shifting priorities, a large volume of technical problem resolution, and work well with peers and senior staff in a team oriented, and cooperative environment.
- Experience with routing/switching.
- Experience with network management applications & protocols.
- Experience with service management applications & protocols.
- Experience working in/with network infrastructure, operations team, noc, or call center environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of problem and incident management, network monitoring, and service management applications.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrate strong communications, consultative and interpersonal skills, including oral, written and presentation.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Working knowledge of Juniper JUNOS.
- Cisco IOS Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Juniper Networks Certified Associate - Junos (JNCIA - Junos).
- Software (Network Configuration Manager), IPAM software (Infoblox), work order ticketing systems, log analyzer software.
- Strong understanding of ITSM principles ITIL Foundation V3 certification.
- Experience with PDU/UPS equipment
