Mechanical Designer 1. Skills/Experience Required a. Technical knowledge and ability to conceptualize a variety of mechanical systems in multiple settings and industries b. Electro-mechanical systems design experience (3+ years required) i. Robotic/Cobot EOAT design ii. Parts Fixturing iii. Lifting Manipulator design c. Proficiency in Solidworks mechanical design (5 years or more) i. Large assembly file management and design d. Ability to design with manufacturability in mind e. Ability to clearly detail prints for manufacturing (welding, machining, fabrication) f. Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) 2. Preferred Skills a. Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and cable management associated with those things b. Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems and basic electrical control systems. c. Basic understanding of Solidworks PDM 3. Traits a. Self-motivated and detail-orientated b. Able to allocate time efficiently and independently c. Willing to learn and continually grow skillset d. Convey ideas effectively and work in a team environment e. Willing to work in roles outside of job description i. Includes shop assembly of your mechanical designs (only as needed) ii. On-site service for customers (10% travel local to WI) f. Able to clearly communicate their capabilities and limits Responsibilities: 1. Ensure all safety objectives and compliances are met for designs. 2. Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements 3. Create accurate Bill of Materials 4. Detail and release to manufacturing 5. Oversee sub-contracted portions of the projects 6. Define equipment and parts from external suppliers 7. Provide support for internal and external resources to complete the project 8. Create customer support documentation such as user manuals and spare parts lists |
