Job Summary

Responsible for providing support for the Partnership for the Arts & Humanities, Arts Internship Program, and other out-of-school arts and humanities activities.

Program Area: Afterschool Arts & Humanities

Employment Type: Part-Time

Hours: 15-20 (with additional hours available during peak times)

Hourly Rate: $17.00

Position Summary

PARTNERSHIP FOR THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES SUPPORT

  • Assist in coordination and execution of the Partnership for the Arts & Humanities application and review process
  • Monitor contract compliance and maintain accurate program records for funded partners
  • Secure programming schedules from funded partners and assist with the coordination and scheduling of site visits with funded partners
  • Conduct regular site visits, and complete an observation form for each visit
  • Assist in the coordination of events hosted by Milwaukee Recreation for funded partners (conferences, trainings, feedback meetings, resource fairs, etc.)
  • Assist in planning and executing biannual large-scale Partnership for the Arts & Humanities showcase event

ARTS INTERNSHIP SUPPORT

  • Assist in the coordination and execution of the Arts Internship application and review process
  • Assist in planning, coordination, and implementation of summer trainings and end-of-program celebration
  • Process intern applications and distribute applications to appropriate host organizations for review
  • Monitor contract compliance and maintain accurate program records for funded partners
  • Conduct site visits, and create brief summary reports of each visit

OTHER SUPPORT

  • Assist in coordination and oversight of after school arts and humanities programming across all MPS after school sites

GENERAL

  • Attend biweekly meetings with before and after school project team
  • Attend weekly meetings with after school arts and humanities team
  • Conduct ongoing research in the areas of community arts education, youth voice/choice, culturally responsive practices, equity in the arts, and more.
  • Other responsibilities assigned as needed.
Supervision Required

Reports to the Supervisor of Afterschool Arts & Humanities

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree completed (or in progress) in art, art education, or related field.
  • Valid drivers license authoring the operation of a motor vehicle and access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Daytime availability, with some late afternoon/early evening work hours for site visits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong speaking and writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate with community partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Working Environment

Contributes as a team member to an atmosphere which is friendly, cooperative, efficient and professional. Positively represents Milwaukee Recreation at site visits and out in the community through respectful and professional communication and interaction.
