Job Summary

The Master Technical Designer plays a critical role in the full lifecycle of technical development at Kontoor Brands, leading the creation of patterns and technical specifications from concept through to final sample approval. This position ensures on-time execution in alignment with Go-to-Market milestones, maintains product integrity, and upholds brand standards across fit, construction, and materials. The role requires strategic collaboration with cross-functional partners and a strong command of tools, systems, and technical processes to ensure a seamless pass-off to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of pre-production patterns, technical construction details, and material finalization to ensure accurate and timely completion of technical specifications.
• Collaborate closely with Product Development to ensure on-time pass-off to the Technical Design Production team for production-ready packages across field manufacturing, international offices, and vendors.
• Evaluate and execute product design or merchandising changes, ensuring updates are clearly communicated and accurately implemented in all technical documentation.
• Support the development and integration of fit blocks, 3D pattern assets, and technical construction manuals, adhering to SOPs for materials, labeling, packaging, and folding.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues related to patterns, construction, quality, or systems through cross-functional problem-solving.
• Maintain up-to-date workflows and documentation within all relevant systems and tools.
• Embrace and support the adoption of new technologies, systems, and best practices through ongoing training and participation in implementation efforts.
• Conduct regular self-evaluations and performance reviews with direct supervisors as part of personal development planning.
• Manage multiple development projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail and time management.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Apparel, Fashion Design, or a related field and/or 20+ years of progressive experience in Technical Design, Product Development, or Patternmaking.
• Proven expertise in 3D design tools such as Browzwear or CLO, with advanced proficiency in PLM systems for workflow management and technical documentation.
• Experience collaborating with global brands and cross-functional teams across regions, ensuring consistency and quality in fit and construction standards.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration.
