Job Description Summary:

The Sponsored Procurement Supervisor provides leadership, oversight, and support to a team of buyers responsible for all procurement under USG/customer funded programs within the Supply Chain Procurement Team. Responsible for establishing priorities, leading daily activities, and ensuring the timely and proper execution for the procurement of a wide range of goods and service in accordance with Draper, State/local, and U.S. Government (FAR/DFARS) procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (areas including but not limited to Finance, Legal, Programs and Engineering) and suppliers to resolve complex issues and ensure project success. We are seeking a candidate who exhibits strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to foster professional relationships to successfully complete work assignments and drive results. A successful candidate will be able to proactively anticipate business needs and collaborate with the program and departmental offices to support the strategic direction of Draper's business areas.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities
* Supervise a team of buyers to successfully manage and execute annual procurement spend.
* Proactively anticipate business needs and collaborate with the program and departmental offices to support the strategic direction of each business area.
* Collaborate with other functional areas such as Finance, Accounting, Legal and Engineering to promote cooperation and commitment within the team to achieve goals and objectives.
* Support other special projects and/or represents the department on cross* functional teams as assigned by the Manager of Procurement.
* Support the development/enhancement of department wide policies and procedures.
* Provide training and direction to subordinates based on general policies, purchasing/contractual terms and compliance and system requirements.
* Review and prepare a summary of complex request for proposals, solicitations and potential or existing procurements to provide management with proper interpretation of contract requirements.
* Lead complex negotiations in various aspects of a purchase orders including, but not limited to, price/cost, vendor agreements and purchasing terms in coordination with the internal legal team and the Manager of Procurement, as necessary.
* Identify risk in terms and conditions that deviate from company policy. Support senior Procurement staff in developing and presenting risk mitigation approaches/recommendations to senior management.
* Support procurement inspections, peer reviews, process reviews and internal audits.
* Establish developmental plans for direct reports at all levels, including performance planning and development support; coaching and mentoring; rewards and recognition; and staff retention to develop a continuous improvement culture.
* Performs other duties as necessary.

Skills/Abilities
* Excellent relationship management skills.
* Ability to develop, coach, and mentor staff in-line with the mission, vision, values, goals, and performance standards of formal and informal teams.
* Strong written and oral communication skills as well as thorough familiarity with Microsoft Office.
* Proficiency with the PeopleSoft Procurement desirable.
* Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a high-volume environment while ensuring excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to establish and implement departmental goals and objectives.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field.

Experience
5-7 years of procurement related experience. Previous supervisory/management experience.

Additional Job Description:

  • Responsible for leading, managing, and motivating a team of seven (7) buyers to successfully manage and execute all of Draper's sponsored procurement spend.
  • Responsible for the coaching, development, and growth of all Team staff
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FAR/DFARS procurement flow down requirements, contract types and price /source justifications
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory/management experience
