Civil Service Title- Cement Mason

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST HAVE FILED FOR THE UPCOMING CEMENT MASSON EXAM AND PROVIDE FROOF OF FILING.

Cement Masons, under direction, prepare, mix, lay and finish cement and concrete to grade and contour; prepare and set forms; lay concrete floors, pavements, walks, foundations and retaining walls (plain and reinforced); screed and finish cement and/or concrete to grade; prepare material requisitions to meet job requirements; operate small power equipment and tools; keep records; may supervise assigned personnel; and may operate a motor vehicle. All Cement Masons perform related work. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including nights and weekends. Able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. repeatedly. Comfortable working at heights, on scaffolding, and in confined spaces. Willingness to travel between multiple bridge sites in NYC.

CEMENT MASON - 92210

Minimum Qualifications

1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a cement mason; or
2. At least three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a cement mason, plus sufficient full-time satisfactory experience as a mason's helper, or relevant training acquired in an approved trade school, technical school or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining experience. The school must be approved by a state's Department of Education or comparable agency.

You will receive credit for six months of cement mason experience for each year of mason's helper experience or approved training.
