Department:Natural Resources Management Office Organizational Unit:Watershed Capital Projects Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. $3,847.73 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Performs skilled professional engineering work coordinating, planning, designing, drafting reviewing, inspecting and/or implementing assigned projects for the Natural Resources department. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering with coursework in hydrology and hydraulicsPLUSfive (5) years of professional experience in engineering related to Environmental Science, Stormwater, or a closely related field, including two (2) years of post-registration experience;ORBachelor's degree in Civil Engineer or Environmental Engineering with coursework in hydrology and hydraulicsPLUSfour (4) years of experience as a Brevard County Engineer in a section related to Environmental Science, Stormwater, or a closely related field, including one (1) year of post-registration experience. The following experience and/or familiarity is required: Floodplain and compensatory storage calculations; Interconnected Channel & Pond Routing (ICPR) modeling and review; stormwater nutrient loading calculations for stormwater projects; and project budgeting, grant tracking, and project oversight. The following experience and/or familiarity is preferred: ability to read plans; perform culvert size calculations; stormwater terminology; and the use of denitrification for water quality improvement.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be registered as a State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE), in accordance with the requirements of Florida Statute 471. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within nine (9) months of employment, a current Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Erosion and Sediment Control Inspectors certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
