Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, night/weekend hours required to round with all shifts

Your role with us

As Manager of Access Services for the Emergency Department at Salem Health, your leadership role supports one of the busiest emergency departments on the West Coast.

You will be responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 45 staff through five direct reports including supervisors and dispatchers. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring consistent, compliant, efficient, and compassionate patient access operations in an environment that changes daily.

The ideal candidate is consistent, communicative, and adaptable-capable of creating structure while supporting staff resilience and delivering results. The role requires flexible hours to accommodate visibility across all shifts, especially during the initial phase of employment.

The department is high-paced, high-impact, and requires a leader who can balance empathy with operational excellence. This essential role is highly rewarding for a leader committed to driving forward a team focused on performance, patient satisfaction, collaboration, and problem solving.

What you'll do

  • Lead daily operations and team performance across all shifts with a focus on performance metrics such as patient throughput and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership, including late evening and occasional night shift presence, particularly during the onboarding period.
  • Support and coach frontline supervisors in a manner that promotes consistency in supervisory performance, communication, and staff accountability to foster a cohesive team culture.
  • Drive change management, employee engagement, and conflict resolution while supporting staff through the emotional challenges of emergency care work.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and aligning operations with both business and people-focused outcomes.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for full scope of oversight.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of business leadership experience, healthcare experience preferred.
  • People management experience.
