Smith+Nephew is a global leader in medical technology, and we're seeking a seasoned Quality Control Technician 3 to join our team. This role is ideal for a quality professional looking to take the next step in their career by leading complex inspections, mentoring junior staff, and supporting critical production and inspection readiness efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to work in a regulated environment to support the overall quality and safety of Smith + Nephew medical devices.

What will you be doing?

  • Perform complex inspections of components and assemblies, including GD&T interpretation and Vision System Analysis

  • Lead and execute First Article Inspections (FAI), process validations, and engineering studies

  • Document inspection results and test data accurately and promptly in inspection records and digital applications.

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to address quality issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain inspection records and ensure proper documentation in compliance with FDA regulations and ISO 13485 standards.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous quality.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree in technical or scientific field strongly preferred.

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience in quality inspection within a regulated industry. Demonstrated expertise with measurement equipment, GD&T, and documentation systems. Medical device experience highly desirable.

  • Advanced understanding of inspection and calibration principles and familiarity with precision measuring instruments.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and calibration standards.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during inspection and calibration activities.
