Primary Purpose of this Job

This Process Engineering position is responsible for providing melt process technical support to Monroe, NC manufacturing facilities.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)

Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:



  • Internal and external technical lead for remelting operations.


  • Develop and maintain process instructions in support of process compliance.
  • Provide quote-to-shipment technical product lifecycle support for cast ingot products. Develop flow paths, recipes, review specifications, and manage product soft-side changes.
  • Provide technical support in resolving process-related deviations and customer complaints.


  • Track critical-to-quality (CTQ) metrics and implement statistical process control (SPC) programs.
  • Collaborate with Technology, Quality, and Operations to develop and lead improvements to manufacturing processes and standards that enhance safety, product quality, higher productivity, and reduced cost.
  • Support Product Engineering and R&D in the development, evaluation, and standardization of new products and processes.


  • Provide technical support during customer audits and inquiries.



Minimum Job Requirements (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

Education & Training Required:



  • B.S. or M.S. in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Statistical data analysis using JMP, Mini-Tab, or related software.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).


Experience Required:



  • 2+ years of industrial metals manufacturing experience.

    • Process or product engineering industrial experience related to manufacturing Ni/Co-base superalloys, Ti alloys, or specialty steels preferred.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities typically required to perform the essential functions of this job.



  • Working knowledge of liquid metal processing of Ni/Co-base superalloys, Ti alloys, and specialty steels. Possesses an understanding and ability to clearly explain measured process data with metallurgical theory.
  • Utilizes scientifically rigorous, data driven approach to problem solving. Embraces root cause problem solving and carefully considers the risks associated with enacting long-term countermeasures.
  • Strong communicator with demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts and requirements to shop floor personnel as well as senior management.
