The Role:

We are looking for our next Category Specialist Chemicals within our Direct Materials Procurement Team. The Category Manager Chemicals will be responsible for developing, communicating and executing procurement strategies that support the business goals in growth, cost savings, risk mitigation, working capital improvement, development of new products and achievement plant operating efficiencies. The portfolio includes petrochemicals, commodity chemicals including chlor-alkali derivatives and tail spend raw materials.

This role will interact with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, R&D and Manufacturing Technology to address supply concerns while leading the development and implementation of the procurement strategy. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the management of supplier performance for related raw materials used by our plants in North America. The performance management and strategy development will be coordinated with colleagues in other regions to ensure optimal results and efficient implementation.

The Category Manager Chemicals is accountable for the management and performance of the full portfolio including the creation of procurement strategies, setting strategic objectives, and optimization of suppliers' portfolios. He/she will manage relationships with key suppliers, ensure accountability and alignment with Roquette objectives across global, regional, and local business needs

This position is located Wilmington, Delaware

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $120,000- $165,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop strong sourcing capabilities that support the Roquette organization in delivering successful results. Implement strategies within the chemical portfolio, driving results, and achieving strategic objectives.
  • Understand and apply the principles of SRM and Category Management within the category and region: Develop new and existing supplier partnerships and collaboration to support growth strategy with innovation and technology. Support technology buying by accessing supplier capabilities and reducing non-value-added suppliers.
  • Maintain continuous impactful communication with internal stakeholders to align priorities and understand future trends in their needs.
  • Support the development of regional strategies for your category, to ensure objectives are met with the lowest life cycle costs. Ensuring coordination with other regions is important.
  • Execute a disciplined application of the strategic sourcing methodology: Perform continually spend analysis on assigned categories and sub-categories, assess market intelligence and develop full market analysis, Identify and approve new vendors to diversify the portfolio for risk mitigation
  • Negotiate and resolve vendor performance issues and negotiate claims when necessary.
  • Reduce working capital through supplier collaboration, payment term negotiation and other alternative means

What You'll Need:

Education:

  • Bachelor, or master's degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, Economics or Supply Chain. Chemical background is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years procurement experience in chemicals or related categories
  • Negotiation skills and experience (> 5 years).
  • ERP (SAP/Oracle) knowledge.
  • Experience in the Pharma / Chemical industry including an understanding of regulations,
  • Experience with Office 365, procurement tools, and sourcing tools.
  • CPSM (Certified Professionals in Supply Management)/ISM or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Supervisory Responsibility (if applicable)

  • This is a single contributor role, but is expected to work efficiently in a matrixed organization that requires leadership of multifunctional groups

Work Environment

  • This role spends approximately 90% of the time in an office environment and 10% travelling to visit vendors and support manufacturing sites.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position.

Business Travel:

  • Travel will be required to develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Travel will be primarily within North America. Occasional international travel may be expected.
