Position Description

Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

About the Department and/or College

The Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE) was one of the university's original four colleges founded in 1925 and later renamed in honor of Edward E. Whitacre, Jr. The WCOE has seven departments and approximately 4800 undergraduate and 1300 graduate students. There are approximately 220 faculty/instructors and 115 staff in the college. "We are a regionally rooted first class engineering college with national and worldwide impact."

The Dean's Office in the Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE) is dedicated to the success of our faculty, students and staff. This team serves as the leadership and operational hub of the college, guiding academic programming, faculty affairs, research initiatives, and student support, while balancing essential administrative functions. We value dedication, integrity, and hard work, fostering a supportive community that encourages collaboration, creativity and effectiveness. Major/Essential Functions

In this position you will advise engineering students on global experiences including summer, term, and academic year opportunities for an assigned portfolio of programs. You will work closely with other members of the WCOE Global Experiences team, the academic advisors in WCOE, and the TTU Study Abroad office (internally) and partner institutions (externally) to ensure that all policies are followed as students apply for, go on, and return from their experiences. Your role includes supporting students from recruitment to returning from abroad.

Essential functions:

  • Develops and manages existing and new global experience programs (study abroad, internships or coops, service learning and research projects) in the assigned regional portfolio, including international contracts with universities and providers.
  • Provides global experience program advising, including academic advising, to TTU undergraduate engineering students, collaborating with the Engineering Academic Advisors. Tasks include tracking degree completion and working with Degreeworks.
  • Collaborates with the main TTU Study Abroad office. Tasks include: coordinating international agreements with the OIA, facilitating study and/or internship abroad course registration, credit pre-approvals, creating budgets, contracts, student acceptance, and pre-departure orientation for faculty-led and customized programs and advising in coordination with the TTU OIA.
  • Assists with curriculum mapping related to global experience programs and works with partners, faculty, academic advisers and engineering students on study abroad academic credit equivalency. Implements processing of credit pre-approvals, and GST placeholder course enrollment.
  • Assists with student outreach for global experience programs, through class visits, orientation presentations, study abroad fairs, job fairs and information sessions.
  • Evaluates and approves applications for the WCOE Study Abroad programs in Terra Dotta for students in the assigned regions.
  • Participates as a member of the scholarship committee to determine scholarship eligibility, amounts, and awards.
  • Assists with applications of incoming exchange students in evaluating and processing course registrations in collaboration with OIA and academic advisors
  • Provides data and develops reports on global experience programs for the college.
  • Assists Senior Associate Dean and Dean's office in any other necessary tasks related to global experiences.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of different global experience program types and locations.
  • Knowledge of advising with study abroad software
  • Experience with Terra Dotta, Banner, Cognos
