Reporting to the leader of our global talent policy and compliance team, this role provides advisory support and oversight of compliance risks across the employee lifecycle. Key responsibilities include managing escalations, guiding decision-making, and ensuring accurate documentation. The role is accountable for the consistent and compliant handling of all escalation types, in alignment with regulatory requirements and RSM's operational standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the department, business units, and overall firm strategy to align compliance initiatives with organizational goals
  • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure consistent application of compliance policies and proactively identify legal and regulatory risks
  • Support the implementation of strategies to mitigate compliance risks associated with RSM processes and procedures
  • Stay current on industry trends, employment laws, and HR best practices to inform policy development and risk mitigation strategies
  • Manage escalations related to background checks, I-9 employment verifications, and other pre-hire and onboarding activities, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Provide subject matter expertise on leave of absence administration, ensuring adherence to FMLA, ADA, state and local regulations, and firm policies
  • Oversee offboarding processes to ensure compliance with internal protocols and external legal requirements
  • Address and resolve compliance-related escalations in a timely and effective manner
  • Build consensus and secure buy-in from internal stakeholders on proposed compliance recommendations and process improvements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across all offices, including Talent, to ensure consistent application of compliance standards
  • Lead the Talent compliance component of RFP responses, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant submissions
  • Design and deliver training and guidance to Talent Operations and other Talent team members on compliance policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Talent function and the business

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in HR compliance, policy administration, or talent operations
  • Extensive knowledge of global, federal, state, and local employment laws, regulatory framework, and compliance requirements, with proven experience applying them effectively in a corporate environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing escalations processes with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across multiple business units
  • Sound judgment and accountability in decision-making and follow-through
  • Solution-oriented mindset with outstanding organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex compliance requirements into practical guidance
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field
  • Prior experience in a regulated or professional services environment is highly beneficial
  • Familiarity with RFP processes and compliance related contributions
  • Experience developing and delivering training on compliance policies and procedures
  • Reputation for providing superior customer service and building a culture around customer service
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal peers and external business partners
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong overall computer literacy
  • Ability to work well under pressure; meet established targets and goals in a high volume, fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $102,800 - $176,000

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
