Position Description

The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert capable of bridging the gap between vendor technology and clinical operations. They must possess a strong understanding of the product's functionality and troubleshooting techniques, enabling them to validate system performance and identify issues. This includes evaluating current workflows, recognizing opportunities for optimization, and recommending improvements in either system design or operational processes. The candidate should have firsthand industry experience in SurgiNet and demonstrate deep familiarity with the application of electronic health records in that setting. They must work to resolve issues and change requests. They must be able to confidently lead discussions with diverse stakeholders, assess current-state workflows, and propose enhancements that consider both immediate needs and downstream impacts. Additionally, they should be adept at articulating changes to affected groups, integrating those insights into training content and communication strategies to support long-term success across future rollouts.

Type of Employment: Full-time salaried and fully benefited position

Work Location/Travel: Expected 50% travel required; applicants must be free from travel restrictions to accommodate evolving needs of the client.

Salary Range: $95,654 - $129,187 base salary, depending on experience and location. Competitive salary/pay, potential for bonuses. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is highly competitive but dependent upon employment type (1099, contract, W2).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, build, configuration, and optimization of the Oracle Health SurgiNet solution across VA facilities, ensuring seamless clinical and operational workflow integration.

  • Evaluate and refine perioperative and surgical service workflows, making recommendations for improvements that support patient safety, clinical efficiency, and quality of care.

  • Guide the planning, testing, and deployment of new SurgiNet features, enhancements, and patches within VA environments, coordinating efforts with clinical staff, technical teams, and stakeholders.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for SurgiNet support within VA facilities, identifying and resolving complex clinical and technical issues in collaboration with Oracle Health and VA IT teams.

  • Partner with VA clinical staff, program management, and technical teams to assess requirements, recommend best practices, and support effective utilization of the SurgiNet platform.

  • Maintain knowledge of VA policies, federal regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA) to ensure that Surgi Net implementation and utilization adhere to all applicable requirements.

  • Develop and deliver training, knowledge-sharing materials, and best practice guidance for clinical staff, stakeholders, and VA personnel using the SurgiNet application.

  • Support data integrity and quality improvement within SurgiNet, guiding clinical staff and stakeholders to utilize best practices for data entry, reporting, and clinical workflow optimization.

  • Stay informed about Oracle Health application advances, VA clinical requirements, and industry best practices, identifying opportunities for ongoing enhancement and operational excellence.

  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation related to SurgiNet configurations, workflow designs, and clinical best practices for ongoing support and future reference.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of perioperative and surgical clinical workflows, including patient scheduling, pre-op, intra-op, and post-op documentation, and clinical data management.

  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle Health's SurgiNet solution, including design, build, configuration, testing, and optimization within VA environments.

  • Familiarity with VA policies, clinical standards, and federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA, FedRAMP) as they relate to surgical information management and patient data privacy.

  • Skilled in assessing clinical and operational requirements, analyzing workflow and data issues, and providing actionable recommendations for improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the aptitude to build trust, foster teamwork, and support clinical staff, technical teams, and VA stakeholders.

  • Ability to educate, coach, and guide clinical staff and stakeholders through workflow changes, new feature adoption, and system optimization.

  • Skilled in managing priorities, supporting multiple initiatives, and delivering on project milestones within complex clinical and technical environments.

  • Proficient in creating and maintaining accurate, actionable clinical and technical documents, guides, and training materials for ongoing user support.

  • Willingness and ability to stay current with advances in Oracle Health platforms, clinical informatics best practices, and VA clinical policies to drive ongoing improvement and optimization.

Education/Certification Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • RN Clinical licensure

  • Preferred Certification: Oracle Health (Cerner) SurgiNet Certification

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of Oracle Experience including supporting Cerner EHR implementations

Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)

  • Familiarity with digital learning tools and LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, Docebo)
