DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Chief of Surveys in a variety of tasks. You will review and schedule work assignments for field survey crews. You will handle survey requests from various district units that require assistance, conducting thorough research on existing records and as-built plans to collect the necessary survey data. You will decide appropriate staffing requirements for each survey project and delegate tasks to a Survey Technician Supervisor accordingly. After the completion of the surveys, you will review the collected data to ensure its accuracy and reliability. Furthermore, you will keep track of the progress of survey requests and monitor the daily operations of the survey crews, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and policies that protect both the crew members and the public. In addition to these duties, you will develop Open Roads alignments for internal projects, collaborate with Project Managers to create property mosaics, and assist in the review of Line and Grade and Typical Section (LGTS) as well as Right of Way plans generated by internal teams.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Indiana.
  • This position may require travel and overtime as needed.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Surveyor Technician Supervisor; or
  • Five years of responsible surveying work, including one year as a chief of party of a wide variety of surveying assignments; and graduation from high school. An Associate Degree in surveying or engineering technology may be substituted for one year of non-specialized experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a registered surveyor's license as issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, or possession of a registered surveyor's license obtained in another public jurisdiction under requirements which are at least equal to those of Pennsylvania.


Other Requirements:

  • This particular position requires a valid driver's license that is not under suspension.
