Summary

Responsible for assisting in the management of the daily golf operations including managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, supervising outside services, supporting tournaments, and providing customer service to ensure exceptional golf experience for guests at Firewheel Golf Park.

Salary Range: $15.54 - $19.25 (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operations:

  • Coordinate opening and closing procedures following standard operating procedures for till reconciliation, site security, etc.

  • Organize and control play ensuring that customers receive the best service and enjoyment during their day.

  • Collect fees and process payments in line with Club procedures, including shop purchases and green fees.

  • Assist with organizing and running tournaments, and other events, to help make them a success, in line with club policy.

  • Organize and control all golf equipment rentals.

  • May perform basic club repairs and custom fitting to the standard required to generate maximum customer satisfaction.

Teaching:

  • Coordinate and deliver effective coaching for individuals and groups, ensuring that participants' needs are identified, coaching sessions are planned and delivered to develop participants' performance and the effectiveness of sessions are evaluated and reviewed.

  • Assist with organizing and promoting junior golf players and events.

  • Offer school/junior development courses to maximize student progress and enjoyment of the game.

Retailing/Restaurant:

  • Oversee the daily operation of the golf shop under the direction of the Golf Manager.

  • Ensure that the golf shop is clean, orderly, well-stocked and professionally presented at all times.

  • Offer specialist advice using product knowledge to recommend products and services to meet customer requirements.

  • Assist with organizing promotions to stimulate golf shop sales.

  • Monitor and regularly update sales display areas, including window displays and merchandise in hot spots.

  • Assist with inventory control and ordering, pricing and bar-coding.

  • When necessary, oversee and monitor the daily operation of the Grill 64 restaurant.

  • Ensure proper employee attire and sanitation are in line with club policy.

  • Monitor inventories and assist with stocking, inventorying and ordering of food, supplies and other retail products in the pro shops and/or restaurants when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

  • Up to 1 year related golf course experience P.G.A.

  • Member or in their Apprentice Program or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Recreation Administration, Leisure Administration or related field

  • 2-4 years' experience working in a golf shop under a class "A" professional P.G.A. Member

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of golf course management and operation practices and procedures

  • Professional knowledge of the standards techniques of playing and teaching golf and of golf terminology and etiquette

  • Knowledge of golf-related concessions, equipment merchandising, maintenance of course and related facilities

  • Knowledge of equipment necessary to maintain and efficiently operate a golf course and related facilities

  • Knowledge of office procedures, methods and equipment with particular reference to receiving and accounting for the receipt of cash

  • Knowledge in the operation of validating machines, cash registers, calculators and other common office machines

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to evaluate market trends in golf related sportswear and equipment and the trend relation to the course's customers

  • Ability to give golf instructions to the general public, individuals and groups Ability to enforce golf course and facilities rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially

  • Ability to take oral and written instructions

  • Ability to take supply inventory and make appropriate purchases and reports Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License

  • P.G.A. Member or in their Apprentice Program or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works in a retail shop and restaurant as well as an office environment; occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards including exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasional work and other physical labor such as standing, walking, bending/stooping, kneeling and squatting. Must be able to lift/carry/move, at times, 50-75 pounds.
