You're also prepared for occasional after-hours response when critical issues arise.

Your Team
You'll be part of a two-person cybersecurity team alongside the Senior Director of Cybersecurity, to whom you'll report directly. This small-team model is intentional, enabling agility, visibility, and close collaboration acrossITSand the broader campus community. With exposure to systems, strategy, and operations, the role offers opportunities to deepen your expertise, build new competencies, and help shape the university's cybersecurity program.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Protect Denison's information assets by maintaining and monitoring security standards
  • Manage Identity & Access Management (IAM) operations to ensure secure and reliable access to digital services
  • Utilize security tools such as CrowdStrike and Tenable to detect, investigate, and mitigate risks
  • Review systems and processes to ensure compliance with standards and regulations (e.g.,FERPA,GLBA,PCI-DSS)
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness through training and engagement with faculty, staff, and students
  • Conduct vendor risk assessments to protect university data and services
  • Investigate cybersecurity incidents, identify root causes, and lead remediation efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity concepts such as threats, vulnerabilities, security operations, or identity management
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to build trust and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • A proactive mindset and an eagerness to learn and adapt to a changing threat landscape

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in IT, with exposure to cybersecurity, infrastructure, systems administration, or related technical domains
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying current with information security trends and best practices
  • Ability to analyze reports, logs, and systems to identify security issues, service problems, and improve controls
  • Proficiency with tools and practices in areas such asEDR/MDR, firewalls, forensic analysis, identity and access management (IAM), network security, penetration testing,SIEM, systems administration, and/or vulnerability management
  • Skill in scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, or Linux shell
  • Knowledge ofIAMprocesses such as account provisioning, deprovisioning, access reviews, andMFAadministration
