The Plant Manager will provide effective leadership and administration of plant functional areas to obtain optimum efficiency and economy in the operation. You will achieve plant, divisional and company goals set forth each year (OTD, cost, quality, etc.). You will work with minimal supervision and are expected to lead the operation and set direction for the plant.

What You Will Do

  • Manage and direct all plant operations to achieve business plan objectives while providing customer service and satisfaction.
  • Drive the production and shipment of all customer orders from the South Grafton plant.
  • Recruit and build the operations team including quality, supervision, and materials.
  • Direct the LEAN / continuous improvement efforts throughout the plant to achieve objectives.
  • Review plant progress on a regular basis against key business goals, determine root causes of any missed objectives, and drive corrective action as needed to eliminate root causes.
  • Maintain the plant certifications by ensuring all applicable policies, procedures and work instruction are in compliance.
  • Support and drive key plant initiatives on cost reduction, quality improvement, delivery and inventory reduction.
  • Support external customer needs to assure product reliability and acceptance. Provide operational support as needed to resolve customer issues and discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with Molex and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide communication on a regular basis to employees, supervisors and managers regarding company, division, plant and department objectives and performance.
  • Maintain a safe plant working environment with good housekeeping practices.
  • Appraise employee performance in accordance with Molex policies and procedures as well as assist in employee interviewing, development, coaching, and other activities as required.
  • Understands, supports and contributes to current Molex Quality Management System, Six Sigma, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Environmental, and/or Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems by following stated policies and procedures.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Four-year degree in engineering, science or business
  • 5+ years plant management experience.
  • A firm base and knowledge of key manufacturing processes such as extrusion, cabling, braiding
  • Effective leadership skills to develop and optimize the performance of others
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Proficient PC skills, including MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Skilled at managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams to achieve project timelines
  • Financial acumen including basic Profit and Loss, trade-offs, cost benefit, NPV, ROI and growth/profit mindset

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 10+ years in production plant (wire and cable preferred) with progressive steps of increasing
  • Knowledge of shipping in a fast turn situation (high mix, low volume), and an understanding of planning techniques to support very short visibility customer demand
