Overview

The Department of Mathematics at Clarkson University invites applications for a one to two-year, full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position. We seek a dynamic and collegial scholar committed to excellence in both teaching and research. The ideal candidate will have expertise in applied data science and statistics, with the ability to contribute across a range of undergraduate and graduate courses.

Clarkson University is a nationally recognized research institution known for its focus on technology, innovation, and sustainable solutions to real-world challenges. The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative department dedicated to high-impact teaching, student-centered learning, and interdisciplinary research.

Responsibilities

    Teaching a 3+3 course load per academic year (three courses each semester), including undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and statistics such as Introduction to Data Science, Theoretical Statistics, and Bayesian Analysis.
  • Advising and mentoring students through project-based learning and research.
  • Engaging in scholarly activity and collaborative research aligned with departmental interests.
  • Participating in departmental and university service activities.


Qualifications

  • Education: Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field by the start date.
    • Experience:
      • Demonstrated potential or experience in effective undergraduate teaching.
      • Experience teaching graduate-level statistics or data science is a plus.
    • Skills:
      • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
      • Ability to explain complex mathematical and statistical concepts clearly and accessibly.
      • Commitment to inclusive teaching and student success.
