Reports directly to the Executive Director for College Advancement and is responsible for developing and implementing strategies which will support fundraising and alumni engagement goals. As a member of the College Advancement Department, the Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving is responsible for oversight of the annual giving & alumni relations. The Director of Alumni Relations & Annual Giving will develop and implement a long-range strategic plan and annual goals to increase annual support and alumni involvement for the Lake Land Foundation. This position will lead all fundraising & stewardship activities related to annual support including appeals, cultivation of new annual scholarships, employee campaign and fundraising events.

Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Fundraising & Development
- Leads development, preparation, maintenance and distribution of departmental publications including annual appeal letters for all potential and current donors, alumni magazine, Foundation annual report, informative pieces, brochures, and programs, etc.
- Manages a prospect pool with annual goals for personal visits and giving outcomes
- Establishes and maintains positive and productive relationships with Foundation Board members, college faculty and staff. Serves as a liaison to other board committees as identified by the Executive Director.
- Manages and coordinates all aspects of the annual faculty and staff giving campaign, including the development and support of the volunteer committee.
- Participates, as appropriate, on college committees.
- Assist the Executive Director with initiatives such as major gift and capital campaigns and other duties as assigned with such projects.
- Work with the Executive Director for College Advancement and the Donor Information and Database Coordinator to plan targeted alumni stewardship programs, from concept to implementation, as well as other Foundation initiatives.
Alumni Relations
- Work with the College Advancement team, student organizations, the Alumni Association Board and its committees to advance relationships with the College's alumni.
- Lead the implementation of the alumni engagement strategic plan to increase alumni participation in the efforts of student recruitment, Admissions, Athletics, Career Services, Student Life and other student services areas of the College. Serve as a staff liaison to the Alumni Association Board, providing vision, guidance and motivation for the Board to strengthen alumni relations with the College.
Engagement & Events
- Strategically develop an annual plan of work that includes a calendar of activities, events, and programs tailored to motivate and engage different segments of alumni and annual donors
- Maintain Foundation and Alumni websites, regular print, electronic and social media communication with alumni and donors to provide updates on other alumni, as well as overall Lake Land College initiatives.
- Support activities and develop a culture within the present student body, which prepares individuals to be active and engaged alumni upon completion of their time as Lake Land students.
- Work with Career Services to develop a continuing relationship plan that strengthens the College's alumni relations efforts.
- Oversees all campus-wide foundation and alumni special events. Provides oversight to the College Advancement Representative/Coordinator for events.
- Work with the Executive Director to establish an annual calendar of events for placement in the annual fundraising and alumni plan. Coordinate throughout the year to adjust as necessary.
- Support the overall Advancement Team as necessary to achieve Department goals.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director for College Advancement.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in business or related field preferred. Preference given to degrees in business, marketing, communications, event planning, hospitality, college student affairs or related field.
Experience: Experience in development, alumni relations and/or experience planning special events. Experience in student life, admissions or other relationship-building position a plus. Experience in a higher education setting preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:Strong knowledge and understanding of the process of fundraising/development, alumni relations, event planning and general fund-raising operations for a college or not-for-profit organization. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with extreme attention to detail; flexible and comfortable with excellent follow through. Goal oriented individual demonstrating effective management, planning, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently or with a team.
Personal:Outgoing and engaging personality with strong customer service mindset. Self-motivated and reliable. Articulate in both verbal and written communications. Ability to get along well with others. Analytical.
