NATURE AND SCOPE
This position reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors with administrative accountability to the President, CEO. Responsible for providing independent and objective assurance to evaluate and strengthen the organization's governance, risk management, and internal control environment. Leads the internal audit department including strategic visioning, team development, program execution, and ensuring the highest standard of professional practice. Provides analysis and recommendations regarding governance and internal control structure that appropriately balance effective risk mitigation and operational efficiency. This position is a strong collaborator with leadership across all business areas and with external stakeholders to promote transparency, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) is preferred.
2. Minimum of 10 years financial services experience with at least 5 years of experience auditing financial institutions.
3. Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
4. Strong knowledge of and experience in assessing internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO), risk management, financial operations, lending practices, and IT general controls.
5. Strong working knowledge of the International Professional Practices Framework.
6. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with ability to use independent judgment and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
7. Experience leveraging technology and data analytics in risk assessment, audit program design, and program execution.
8. Experience working with a board-level Audit Committee and executive teams.
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong executive presence and ability to influence across all organizational levels.
10. Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to this position. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all job-related state and federal laws and regulations.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Develops and implements the strategic vision for the audit department in collaboration with the Audit Committee to deliver independent assurance .
2. Develops and executes a comprehensive, risk-based internal audit plan aligned with the organization's strategic objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
3. Oversees the planning, scoping, execution, and reporting of operational, financial, IT, compliance, and strategic audits across all business units. Ensures audits are conducted in accordance with professional standards and best practices.
4. Coordinates and manages outsourced internal audit engagements.
5. Evaluates effectiveness of the company's governance, risk management process, compliance, and internal control structure.
6. Presents audit results, risk and control recommendations to the Audit Committee and executive management.
7. Conducts regular independent risk assessments to identify emerging risks and adjusts the audit plan accordingly.
8. Provides recommendations to executive management and the Audit Committee on risk management, governance, and internal control issues.
9. Leverages data analytics, automation, and audit tools to streamline and enhance audit efficiency, coverage, and insight generation.
10. Provides leadership and direction to the audit team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and professional development.
11. Collaborates with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), and Information Security teams to ensure a cohesive and enterprise-wide approach to risk.
12. Serves as a key liaison with state and federal regulators as well as external auditors and examiners.
13. Stays abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and professional standards in audit and risk management. Implements innovative audit methodologies and tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the audit function.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
