General Purpose:

Supports the financial operations of Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority by maintaining accurate tenant accounting records. Responsibilities include reviewing, posting, and balancing rent and other tenant-related transactions in accordance with HUD regulations and agency policies. The role also involves responding to inquiries from property managers, tenants and field staff, assisting with account reconciliations, and performing general clerical duties to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

20% Record and process lockbox, manual cash, vacated account payments, NSF checks and journal entries. Record all cash to spreadsheet. Collate documents, lock box edit sheets, and resolve discrepancies.

35% Data enters all adjustments to tenant accounts (i.e. extra charges, NSF checks, stale dated checks, utility charges, and refund requests). Process tenant account refunds and forward requests to Accounts Payable. Set up repayment agreement accounts.

10% Reconcile move out, unit transfers and MTW accounts. Transfer account balances as needed (i.e. security deposits, repayment agreements and unit transfers).

10% Provide timely and accurate information to field staff and tenants regarding accounts and payments.

10% Process tenant disposition files, which includes transferring security deposit and repayment agreement balances to the TAR account, sending out disposition of security deposit letters, processing refunds and scanning into OnBase.

5% Maintain files and recordkeeping systems, including creating new fiscal year files.

5% Serve as backup for the Accounts Payable Clerk position.

5% Perform miscellaneous clerical duties such as typing and filing, distributing incoming mail and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications:

High school diploma and post-secondary course work in bookkeeping and/or accounting, with a minimum of two years' experience in accounts receivable. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computers and computer software, including Microsoft Excel. Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and be insurable under AMHA policy.

Physical demands may include kneeling, reaching, pushing, fingering, manipulating, talking, hearing, sitting for extended periods, crouching, standing for extended periods, stooping, walking, lifting up to 10 lbs. and repetitive motion using a keyboard, telephone and calculator. The visual acuity requirements include viewing a computer monitor and extensive reading.
