Compensation Grade: H95Compensation Details: Minimum: $15.50 - Maximum: $15.50 HourlyDepartment (OPH) WADS - Wadsworth CenterJob Description: Responsibilities Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Laboratory Technician to work within the Wadsworth Center's Mycology Laboratory. The Hourly Laboratory Technician will assist with routine laboratory maintenance tasks. Responsibilities will include organizing residual archived samples, aliquoting various reagents, and maintaining the organization of laboratory reagents and supplies. In addition to supporting daily lab operations, the hourly will contribute to the updating of existing Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs). This work will involve performing internal validation runs, drafting validation reports, and revising current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position will provide a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in clinical mycology, laboratory quality systems, and molecular diagnostic test validation within a public health laboratory setting. This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center's mission in the New York State Department of Health's efforts to protect and promote the health of New York's citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health! Minimum Qualifications Currently pursuing a college degree in a relevant field of study. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a laboratory setting. Conditions of Employment Hourly, grant funded position expected to last through 8/29/2025. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will not be available. Exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position.
