The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of the Company, ensuring accuracy in reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and efficiency in financial processes. The Staff Accountant works closely with the Controller's team, as well as cross-functional teams, to support development and maintain financial policies and procedures that ensure the company's financial health and sustainability.

Competencies:

Financial Management

  • Participate in month-end close cycle, including day-to-day expense review.
  • Prepare journal entries ensuring compliance with GAAP and Statutory principals.
  • Prepare Balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • Assist in investigation and correction of errors and inconsistencies in journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.

Financial Reporting

  • Assist with internal management reporting, such as financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Assist with state and client external reporting needs quarterly and annually as required.

Compliance & Audit

  • Prepare financial information requests for interim and annual year-end audit process with external, client, and state auditors as assigned.
  • Research, review, and monitor technical Statutory and GAAP accounting matters and principles as assigned
  • Maintain strong financial processes, procedures and internal controls to ensure conformance and compliance with accounting and regulatory requirements applicable to the dental and vision insurance industries.

Core:

  • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting standards.
  • Intermediate Excel skills: creating complex formulas (vlookup, SUMIF, Concatenate, etc.), Conditional Formatting, Data Validation, use and create pivot tables.
  • Experience with accounting software (preferably Workday).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and levels of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting or Finance. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 1-2+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting standards.
  • Intermediate Excel skills: creating complex formulas (vlookup, SUMIF, Concatenate, etc.), Conditional Formatting, Data Validation, use and create pivot tables.
  • Experience with accounting software (preferably Workday).
  • As this role is a remote role, you are required to maintain internet service that allows you to complete your essential job duties without issue. Rates of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload while hardwired and not on a VPN are sufficient.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the insurance or financial services industries highly desired.
  • Capable of operating in a fast-paced and transformational environment.
  • Proactive mind-set to solve problems, challenge the status quo and drive process improvement.

FLSA Status: Salary/Exempt

National Salary Range: $50,780 - $99,240

Bonus Eligible: Annual Incentive Plan (AIP)
