Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist.
The Research Scientist/Biostatistician will work closely with Biostatistics faculty and clinical investigators on statistical methods and applications in a wide range of areas. The incumbent of this role will work with research groups in clinical and basic science departments and centers on study design, protocol development, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation.
Job Responsibilities:
The Research Scientist/Biostatistician will work closely with Biostatistics faculty and clinical investigators on statistical methods and applications. The successful candidate will:
- Coordinate discussions on study design between various labs, scientific staff, and clinical collaborators.
- Assist with developing protocols for the collection and quality control of the research data.
- Work closely with Biostatistics faculty and clinical investigators to become familiar with statistical methods and applications in a wide range of research areas.
- Apply various statistical methodologies to perform data analysis and data interpretation accurately and independently.
- Identify and resolve any technical problems related to the data manipulation and programming in the software used.
- Have opportunities to make significant contributions to scientific literature by serving as a resource/author/co-author for papers, assisting with manuscript preparation, reports and presentations.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all assigned research projects.
- Implement research techniques and methodologies, provide feedback and suggestion for improvement.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the advances in specialized fields through attending scientific conferences and seminar series, reading scientific articles, participating in discussions during the staff meetings, etc.
- Determine the need for and participate in establishing research policies, procedures and practices, when necessary.
- Develop new ideas to enhance research efforts. Exercise a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding scientific research programs and activities.
- Formulate and conduct research covering the scope and range of complex problems that arise from the research projects.
- Offer occasional lectures to collaborating groups on study design, biostatistical analysis, and/or interpretation of results.
- Make decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on scientific research activities.
- Initiate, interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate research assignments critical to department's mission.
- Investigate subject area and identify the scope and definition of problems for investigation through conceptually related studies
- Provide mentoring and training to junior Research Biostatisticians.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MS degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Substantial experience from having completed Post Doc training. Established a record of publications
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70,000.00-$85,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
