Scope of Position

Responsible for operational engineering functions within the Information Technology Security Operations team. The ITService Support Team is within OSUWMC Business Technology Services, which is committed to assisting The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and its patients.

Position Summary

Contributes in the administration, maintenance, planning, development and implementation of integrated technology solutions that support and enhance the information technology systems and applications for the Wexner Medical Center. Responsible for the operational engineering, maintenance, configuration, integration, performance optimization, and end-to-end testing of information technology platforms to ensure stability, reliability and acceptable performance. Plans and validates upgrades of information technology systems, applications and platforms in accordance with ITIL best practices. Responsible for enterprise monitoring with a focus on proactive response, operational resiliency, iterative improvements in efficiency and error elimination. Contributes to operational goals through proactive maintenance, patching, upgrades and platform refresh. Researches current and developing technologies to provide technical guidance pertaining to the capabilities, limitations and requirements of information technology platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field desired, and or at least 2 years of experience in one or more of the following categories: cloud, network engineering, server engineering, endpoint engineering, database systems, midrange systems, storage engineering, infrastructure engineering.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 and ServiceNow
  • Knowledge of Windows Server Administration
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Active Directory
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Cloud App Security
  • Familiarity with security concepts such as CASB, DLP, Conditional Access Policies
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting methodologies, enterprise monitoring software suites and log management/review
  • Knowledge and practical application of Layer 2-4 networking standards
  • Familiarity with software-defined networking concepts
  • Familiarity with wireless networking platforms
  • Knowledge of PaaS, IaaS and SaaS
  • Experience with hypervisor virtualization (VMware and Hyper-V)
  • Knowledge of software-defined storage (VSAN/VVOLS)
  • Familiarity with Python, APIs, and PowerCLI/PowerShell
  • Knowledge of VMware vRealize Automation and vRealize Operations
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practice guidelines desired
  • Required certifications within 1 month of hire: Azure Fundamentals or equivalent
