The Regional Accounting Manager is a true business consultant to our operating units. They are the liaison between the accounting function and the operating functions at the regional level.

The Regional Accounting Manager monitors project work in progress schedules and reports, confers with estimators, project executives, team members and the Regional Controller on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Reviews the income statement projections created by local operating management. Prepares cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project. Assesses cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. Sets up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures. Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction. Performs all accruals and adjustments both in the general ledger and project ledger. Reconciles the project costs to the general ledger. Reconciles and balances all balance sheet accounts. Analyzes and recaps monthly financial data.Creates unit balance sheet, income statement and project reports for month end. Prepares all audit schedules. Handles the reporting for the annual insurance renewal and audit. Handles all applicable tax reporting to the corporate office. This position will report directly to the Regional Controller.

Job Functions:
  • Prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns
  • Monitor payroll tax reporting
  • Prepare work in progress reports for operations meetings.
  • Attend operations meetings.
  • Assist in project cost analysis on larger bids.
  • Develop labor burden and overhead cost standards, as well as monitor and adjust standards as necessary.
  • Review setup of new Project Cards.
  • Review absorption of overhead costs.
  • Create estimated costs to complete on bonded jobs.
  • Complete Contract Profit report reconciling GL to Project Cards.
  • Assist with developing and implementing inventory control procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and advise units to minimize amounts and increase turnover.
  • Oversee physical inventories.
  • Manage resource sharing between the units.
  • Any other tasks required by the Regional Controller


    Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential):
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • Job costing experience working in a Construction environment w/POC and WIP
    • Supervisory experience
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to lead and motivate others
    • Experience managing change across an organization
    • Strong analytical skills
    • CPA/CMA preferred
    • Construction "self-performing" contractor experience

    Key Competencies:
    • Ability to collaborate with a multi-department, multi-location team
    • Thorough current knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures
    • Ability to travel 20%
    • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft applications and Construction ERP systems
