Job Description:

The Role:

Our Semiconductor CMP polishing Pads Manufacturing site in Aurora, IL is looking for a forward-thinking Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve complex production systems with a strong focus on efficiency, reliability, and technical innovation.

The position involves hands-on engineering work across mechanical processes, control systems, and cross-functional collaboration with an emphasis on Safety. Candidates with knowledge of automation, robotics, integration, and control logic are well-positioned to succeed in this role. This is an opportunity to apply advanced technical knowledge in a high-paced environment while contributing to the continuous improvement of manufacturing operations.

This role plays a key part in supporting new product introductions (NPI), customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality, Operations, and Maintenance to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and continuous improvement of existing processes.

What You'll Do:

Process Optimization & Technical Support

  • Monitor and improve manufacturing processes to increase quality, efficiency, and throughput

  • Analyze process data and conduct root cause investigations to drive corrective and preventive actions

  • Troubleshoot production issues across equipment, materials, and process variables

  • Track and improve key performance indicators such as yield, scrap rate, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

  • Comply with Entegris' health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes and support ISO and customer audits.

Equipment & Controls Engineering

  • Support design, installation, and optimization of manufacturing equipment including CNC machines and custom automation tools

  • Assist with programming Robot/Cobots, troubleshooting PLCs, HMI interfaces, and embedded control systems

  • Collaborate on integration of robotics and mechatronic subsystems where applicable

Project & Product Support

  • Participate in the launch of new products and scale-up efforts by supporting process development and manufacturing readiness

  • Support change control, documentation updates, and process validation activities

  • Collaborate with design and quality teams to ensure product manufacturability

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and update process documentation, standard work, and training materials

  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives, Kaizen activities, and data-driven improvement efforts

  • Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies in collaboration with maintenance teams

What We Seek:

Education and Experience

  • Master's in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or a related technical field

OR

  • Bachelor's in the same fields with equivalent professional experience in manufacturing or process engineering.

Technical

  • Strong foundation in mechanical and manufacturing engineering principles.

  • Hands on experience with CAD, CAM, 3D printing, CNC Machining and data analysis tools.

  • Experience with Control Systems, Robotics and Automation.

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, SPC and Lean manufacturing.

Behavioral

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a high-tech manufacturing environment.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience in projects involving Arduino, robotics, or mechatronic systems

  • Familiarity with CNC programming (G-code/M-code) and machine setup or calibration

  • Understanding of PLCs and basic automation architecture (Allen-Bradley, Siemens preferred)

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks/Onshape, MATLAB, Python, or other technical tools

  • Exposure to 3D printing, embedded systems, or custom prototype development

  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) and root cause analysis methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, SQC, or Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills

Compensation: $89,000 - $111,000 per year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
