Academic Affairs is here to support faculty and staff and to provide policy analysis, interpretation, and training in academic personnel actions. Through collaboration and guidance, we hope to aid faculty and staff in achieving the full potential of the School of Medicine's "Discover, Teach, Heal" mission.


Your Role on the Team

Applies professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and / or system wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.
  • Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies.
  • Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems.
  • Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.
  • Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management.
  • Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration.
  • Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials, and make critical decisions regarding personnel.
  • Skill to work as part of a team, as well as skill to work independently.
  • Skill to balance priorities in multiple areas.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality concerning work-related information.
  • Ability to speak in front of large groups to present academic personnel training and other topics as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience
