Job Summary

The Lead Interventional Tech may provide direct care pre, intra, and post for patients undergoing interventional procedures. Must have adequate training and knowledge of vascular and neuro procedures to be a clinical expert and leader within the department. Must maintain and ensure the physician has required equipment to provide quality imaging duties may include: IV starts, prep patients, administration of contrast, operate equipment, document procedures, groin management, and provide patient/family education within a technologist scope of practice. Provides the Supervisor/Manager input regarding employee performance. May be asked to participate in the interview process of new applicants. May lead special projects assigned by leadership.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor patients undergoing routine invasive, interventional procedures. Provide intra-procedural technical support and quality patient/family centered care. Will coordinate daily with the Charge Nurse in maintaining the flow of patients between labs and holding room.

  • Perform quality assurance checks and skills validations on technical equipment. Coordinate the PM's on equipment with the daily case load. Will be responsible for diagnostic equipment inventory, daily verifications of PACS, Syngo Dynamics, and Ultrasound images downloading properly.

  • Coordinate the implementation and training for new equipment and procedures with physicians and staff. Design equipment and procedural training competencies and assist with skills validations. Communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, patient, families, and all ancillary departments while consistently demonstrating the Corewell Standards.

  • Work with the Unit leadership on the training of new Technologist (including RNs when necessary).

  • Assist Leadership with scheduling and manages "on-call" scheduling to maintain adequate staffing. Required to take On Call per department schedule.

  • Supply monitoring and management per individual site needs.

  • Review cases for accurate documentation and appropriate charges as needed.

  • IR Tech must be able to 1st assist physicians using sterile technique, and an expert and be able to precept others on image post processing, cross modality imaging (CT, U/S), 3D imaging, vascular, and cerebral cases if performed at the site.

Qualifications

Required

  • Required Associate's Degree in health care or related field

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in health care or related field

  • 3 years of relevant experience as IR Technologist Required

  • CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Excludes CH South Upon Hire required Or

  • CRT-Cardio Vascular Imaging (CI) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Excludes CH South Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
