TekSystems is currently hiring for a Medical Collector in the Sterling, VA area! MUST HAVE: 2-3 years of medical collections experience, or medical billing, claims, something related! This is a direct placement! MUST have Cerner experience! Description Once the hospital claim is billed, if it is not paid by day 180, it rolls to client to follow up on. They will be using the client's system minimally and will either provide the RSI in house biller with next steps to fix it, or they will contact the insurance company by phone or website to see what needs to be done. They will update in the RSI system to either bill it or write it off. They expect them to get through 20-30 claims a day once they are trained. They work with 30+ payers but most are Medicaid, Carefirst BCBS, Cigna and Aetna. They may need to submit Medical Records, correct claims as well as obtain retro authorizations. It is essentially following up on the claim to find out the next step. They have billers who actually do the submissions, they just need this person to find out what needs to be done. Or if this is all showing that this is going to be on the Patient or customer, they will then be calling the person to collect from them. Job Duties: - Make outbound calls - Take incoming calls - Resolve outstanding account balances via the necessary avenues (internal system) - Properly follow up on all correspondence received - Maintain a work file of accounts - Provide customer service to all debtors, with the intent to resolve the past due amount - Skip trace for better location information on debtors - Contact and follow up with insurance when necessary for account resolution - Meet and/or exceed monthly production standards and fee goals Additional Skills & Qualifications REQUIRED SKILLS - Excellent customer service skills - Perform to company standards of compliance with policies and procedures - Compliance with HIPAA, FCRA, FDCPA and other applicable laws and regulations - Ability to handle multiple computer systems at once - High School diploma or equivalent - Cerner Experience or worked at Children's National previously Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $41600.00/yr. The environment is a small 20 person call center environment. It is an open floor plan with everyone sitting in cubicals. The dress is business casual (polo and khakis) and jeans on Fridays. The company is privately owned. It is a very family-oriented environment. However they have now adapted where they can work from home, and come in if they want or every now and then in order to be there for team meetings and updates. They will start in the office for 2 days to train in Sterling, there only with John or some other leader. They will also have to go to a training that should be 3-4 days in Silver Spring with Children's to get access to the system. So a majority of the first two weeks would be in VA and MD, then they will be working remotely after that. Must need to hardwire their system Hours: 8-4:30 M-F Workplace Type This is a fully remote position.
