General Summary of Position The Pharmacy Site Manager oversees daily pharmacy operations and provides supervision of assigned staff. Responsible for management of daily workflow of the pharmacy team, including bedside delivery; and customer service, problem resolution, and service recovery. May assist the Manager of Operations with business development initiatives at assigned site(s). Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Assists in the selection, training, orienting, and assignment of department staff; coordinates training related to new processes or tools; Implements, monitors, and reinforces MedStar Pharmacy's policies and procedures. Recommends new or modified policies and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve staff performance.Ensures compliance with established financial reporting procedures, i.e., end-of-day closing, cash deposits, vendor invoice processing, and month-end closing.Provides management level intervention as needed to resolve issues and problems related to the interaction between pharmacy staff and customers (physicians, patients, associates, and vendors), as well as between pharmacy personnel.Supervises daily pharmacy operations by: directing workflow patterns, delegating duties to appropriate staff members; maintaining appropriate and adequate inventory for patient population.Oversees inventory management function and ensures completion of tasks; supervises the inventory technician's purchasing to reduce cost of goods sold.Supports the workflow as needed to ensure timely service by assisting where appropriate; answers the phones, greets customers, performs intake and pickup functions; helps with the order; troubleshoots patient questions and concerns.Performs other duties as assigned.Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the pharmacy in community outreach efforts or business development opportunities.Performs all user audits and functions related to staff productivity; performs audit functions on prescriptions to ensure workflow policy and procedures are being upheld.Prepares associate daily work schedules and arranges for adequate coverage to maintain optimum patient service.Works with the Manager of Operations to modify and streamline pharmacy work flows and improve other processes to create an efficient practice; identifies clinical issues that arise on site and refers those to Pharmacy in Charge (PIC) for further guidance.Coaches associates with performance problems; designs, implements, and monitors performance improvement plans and corrective actions. Minimum Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience
- 5-7 years Experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting or 5 years of management experience in a healthcare setting required
- Inventory management experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered technician in Maryland and or DC and pharmacy technician certification through a nationally accredited certification examination (PTCB) preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent problem solving, organizational, verbal and written communication skills, strong customer service skills, and basic computer skills required.
- Must be highly productive; organized and comfortable engaging with patients, family members, and healthcare providers.
- Adept at building trust and relationships.
