Job Overview:

Apply knowledge of materials, engineering theory, and methods in a heavy industrial environment to design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems or related processes. Responsible to create, document, develop and implement manufacturing processes to facilitate execution of the business plan, drive continuous improvement by creating and improving Standard Work, and investigate and execute real time problem resolution.

Responsibilities:


  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of machining and fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, materials and operator input.

  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods, such as Lean Six Sigma, and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods without bias or blame.

  • Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing with emphasis on fixtures, tooling, and CNC equipment.

  • Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.

  • Troubleshoot new and existing manufacturing problems involving designs, materials, or processes.

  • Review product designs for manufacturability and completeness.

  • Train production personnel in new or existing methods.

  • Serve as project manager on designated projects, assembling teams, communicating goals, driving completion to timelines, and reporting progress to stakeholders.

  • Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.

  • Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.

  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.

  • Investigate or resolve operational problems such as material use variances and bottlenecks.

  • Estimate costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new products and processes.

  • Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.

  • Purchase equipment, materials, or parts.

  • Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.

  • Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.

  • Read current literature, talk with colleagues, participate in educational programs, attend meetings, attend workshops, or participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in the field.

  • Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance.

  • Demonstrate excellence in completion of all other duties as assigned.



Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.

  • 1+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent communication, project management and organizational skills.

  • Must be capable to work in a fast paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere.




Preferences:


  • Experience in a metal manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in SAP or other ERP systems.

  • CNC Machining, Tooling and Programming experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

  • Ability to accurately measure and read calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauges, etc.

  • Ability to identify problems and determine root cause.

  • 2D and 3D CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, etc.) and CAD/CAM (CAMworks, Mastercam, etc.) experience.



Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:


  • Onsite.

  • Ability to stand/walk/sit for long periods of time both indoor and outdoor.

  • Ability to communicate information effectively through oral and written presentation. Can convey detailed instructions to others.

  • Ability to stand on feet for up to 8 hours.

  • Able to operate a computer and other handheld technology devices

  • Onsite work noise level in work environments usually moderate to high
