About the Role
Join our finance team as an Accountant where you'll play a crucial role in supporting our Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs) through comprehensive accounting and financial management. This position combines technical accounting expertise with mission-driven work to ensure our programs have the financial foundation needed to serve our communities effectively.
Pay Rate: $22-$24.93/Hour
Hours: 36.25 Hours/Week, Full Time, Hybrid
After 90 days - 1 Day/Week remote or 4 day work week!
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting Functions


  • Utilize accounting software to process receipts, payables, and journal data from assigned centers
  • Reconcile assigned ARC operating bank accounts and ensure sufficient cash flow for operations
  • Process month-end and year-end journals with accuracy and timeliness
  • Apply accounting principles to post journal entries, analyze financial data, and prepare financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Salvation Army Accounting processes


Financial Management & Support



  • Assist ARC Bookkeepers in generating necessary reports for ARC Administrators

  • Collect and review store bank reconciliations each month
  • Collaborate with Center Administrators and bookkeepers to address inquiries and resolve issues
  • Monitor cash flow for centers prior to check issuance
  • Process and upload necessary ACH/Positive Pay files on online banking systems


Reporting & Analysis


  • Prepare internal and external audit schedules as requested
  • Analyze accounts monthly, quarterly, and annually for payment accuracy
  • Assist in preparing financial reports including financial statements and budget performance
  • Perform daily accounts payable and receivable reviews
  • Review ARC Payroll Journals for Exception Reporting


Additional Responsibilities


  • Research and approve new vendors and create vendor accounts
  • Assist with preparing eligible vendors for 1099 processing
  • Provide training to new ARC Bookkeeping staff
  • Perform ARC Bookkeeper functions when necessary, including AP, AR, and Payroll Journal management
  • Identify areas for process improvement and assist in implementing new accounting policies
  • Submit requests and requisitions via TSAMM for CFB approval
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information


What You'll Need to Succeed
Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with multi-location accounting operations
  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and cash management
  • Previous experience in training and mentoring staff
