Job Summary:

The Lampe Lab is currently recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) Professional Research Associate (PRA) with significant experience in protein enzymology, including: gene cloning, expression and purification, characterization, and enzyme kinetics assay development (e.g., Km, Vmax). The ideal candidate will have specific experience working with bacterial cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes and cognate bacterial redox partners (redoxin/reductase pairs), as well as some experience with molecular docking protocols and software, such as AutoDock Vina and UCSF DOCK, and compound library screening. An MS degree or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Science, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or a closely allied field is required. This is a salaried position for work up to 40 hours per week with full benefits. Working hours are flexible. This position is currently funded for one year, with the possibility of an extension depending on future funding availability. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and synthesis of bacterial CYP site-directed mutants
- Expression and purification of bacterial CYP, redoxin, and reductase enzymes
- Fluorescent and/or LCMS substrate identification and assay development
- CYP enzyme activity studies
- Michaelis-Menten enzyme kinetics characterization of bacterial CYP enzymes with various substrates
- Identification and characterization of CYP inhibitors via IC50 and Ki determination
- HTS screening of small-molecule libraries for CYP substrates/inhibitors
- Docking and analysis of selected CYP substrates and inhibitors using AutoDock Vina/UCSF DOCK
- Implementation of HTS docking protocols
- Assist student researchers with training and implementation of molecular docking and molecular dynamics software

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- MS degree or equivalent (>5 years of experience) in Pharmaceutical Science, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or closely allied field
- Experience with heterologous enzyme expression in E. coli
- Experience with computational docking software and the Linux OS (Ubuntu)
Condition of Employment
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule that may occasionally include evenings/weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with CYP enzymes and CYP enzyme assay development (substrate and co-factor identification)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: $58,687 - $60,500 per annum The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
