The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is seeking a highly motivated and resourceful Conflict of Interest Analyst to support the university's Conflict of Interest and Outside Activities program. The OVPR oversees the university-wide strategic initiatives and operational functions of CMU's $620 million research enterprise and associated top-ranked technology transfer and startup activities, which span the university's academic colleges, research institutes and centers, and the Software Engineering Institute, a federally funded research and development center.

The Conflict of Interest Analyst will be responsible for the following:

  • Review conflict of interest and outside activity disclosures to ensure they are consistent with university policy, regulations, and sponsor requirements and to identify potential conflicts of interest for mitigation.
  • Make recommendations about potential mitigation strategies and use independent judgment to escalate for review.
  • Review research proposals, awards, protocols, and agreements to ensure they are consistent with relevant university policy, regulations, and sponsor requirements.
  • Develop and monitor individualized management plans related to active conflicts of interest and outside activities.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records and systems for reporting and documentation.
  • Provide user support and guidance to researchers on policies and processes.
  • Assist with the development and presentation of research compliance-related education programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as the Office of General Counsel, the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Center for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Creation, and academic departments.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulations relevant to area of expertise such as conflict of interest, conflict of commitment, and foreign influence.
  • Enhance professional growth and development by participating in educational programs relating to such topics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
