Job Description Summary

At Advanced Accelerator Applications, a Novartis company, we are committed to leading innovation in nuclear medicine and delivering the next generation of targeted radioligand therapy to cancer patients. We are looking for experienced Manufacturing professionals to help us reach our ambitious goals.

Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting all automation equipment and control systems to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of the new Isotope building. This role will oversee the installation, commissioning, and ongoing optimization of automated processes and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. The position requires providing 24/7 technical support once the plant is operational, promptly addressing any equipment or system issues to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production.

Job Description

Major Accountabilities:

  • Support Automation CSV Activities: Responsible for supporting Computer System Validation (CSV) work to qualify the production lines for the new Isotope building, ensuring all automation systems meet regulatory and operational requirements.

  • Vendor Coordination: Collaborate closely with equipment and system vendors to qualify and install PLCs, Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS), Building Management Systems (BMS), and other related automation systems.

  • Qualification Protocols: Generate, review, and execute qualification protocols, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ), in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any issues that arise during the qualification and commissioning phases of the automation systems to ensure timely project delivery and compliance.

  • 24/7 Operational Support: Provide ongoing 24/7 technical support for automation systems once the facility is operational to maintain uninterrupted production and address any automation-related failures promptly.

The salary for this position is expected to range between $85,400 and $158,600 per year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical, Controls, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering) is required.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working with control systems, including PLC, DCS, and MES platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, DeltaV, and Syncade.

  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is preferred,

  • Solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory compliance

  • Proficiency in working with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

  • Strong understanding of Computer System Validation (CSV) and Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) processes.

  • Familiarity with GMP guidelines and regulatory requirements for automated systems in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for automation and control system issues.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.

  • Team player with a proactive and flexible approach to working in a dynamic project and production environment.
