Job Description:

You'll be joining a dynamic and collaborative team that values innovation and teamwork. We develop and manage a mission-critical data warehouse that integrates U.S. Navy readiness information from over one hundred diverse sources into a unified, structured environment. This centralized data enables us to continuously design and engineer new ways to present meaningful insights, tailored to evolving customer needs.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to mentor and lead others, support their professional growth, and play a key role in advancing the team's capabilities. You'll provide both technical direction and team leadership in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily tasking, participating in scheduled team meetings, and assessment of requirements for database development needs.
  • Responsible for database project solution structure, configuration management, source code, and documentation
  • Designs, implements and maintains database structures to support Web Software application data retention needs, including support for database unit testing, installation, and modification.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills within a multi-disciplinary team of peers
  • Demonstrates and executes technical vision with Tech Lead, Solution Architect, and other team developers.
  • Requires strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to express ideas and design benefits/drawbacks to a technical and non-technical audience
  • As a key member of our team, you will be Responsible for taking the lead on major database development tasks, as well as mentoring and coaching your development peers. Your contributions will be instrumental in our team's success.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 8 years of specialized experience in the analysis of software application workflows, planning software solutions, designing and developing complex software products. Experience must include a minimum of 3 years as software lead or architect of a software development team.
  • Proven experience in administering, designing, and developing database systems, with a strong preference for data warehousing solutions
  • Expertise in relational schema design, including entity relationships, normalization, and data discovery
  • Proficient in T-SQL development, including stored procedures, triggers, indexing strategies, and query optimization
  • Skilled in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Zsh for automation and system tasks
  • Solid understanding of big data technologies, particularly Apache Spark and Hadoop
  • Hands-on experience with managing and maintaining Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and Spark environments
  • Familiar with version control tools, especially Git and Azure Repos
  • Agile development team leader
  • Professional experience administering, designing and developing database systems, preferably data warehousing solutions
  • Experience with schema design (relationships, discovery, and normalization) query optimization, T-SQL, Stored procedures, triggers and indexing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of C# and the .NET framework or other object-oriented programming languages such as Java or Scala (preferred, but not required)
  • Experience with Cognos BI for system administration and report development (a plus, but not required)

Security Clearance: DOD SECRET

Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, information systems management, mathematics, physics, operations research, statistics, engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Master's degree is desired.
